Mint obsession ~ what are your favorite minty scents? With reviews

✨Seeking suggestions for minty perfumes, where the mint/similar note is on the strong-ish to very very strong end of the spectrum. Reviews of ones I’ve tried below. ✨
Mint in perfumes used to turn me off soooo badly ~ it all smelled like some kind of toothpaste breath to me.
And then one fine day, I came across poesie - frosted mittens
And I was immediately obsessed ever since ~ Now I need more : D
So I request your most expert knowledge on the matter (Especially about possets - lavender girl)
Reviews:
poesie - frosted mittens a peppermint mocha topped with mini marshmallows and crushed candy canes, white chocolate peppermint bark, chill winter air
It’s perfect, not too sweet, and smells exactly like the description. You get the chocolate in it but it doesn’t read the same way as most chocolate perfumes do, it’s almost like frothy white hot chocolate with a ton of dark chocolate peppermint bark shards and thin mint cookies crumbled on top ~
It stays pretty minty for a decent amount of time before the white chocolate becomes the star of the show. The mint is at a decently strong level, but it’s more sophisticated and doesn’t go all lopsided-mint heavy/plays well with the other notes. .... but I want it to be even more minty 😈
Rating 9.9/10
Mint level 8/10
I would LIVE for an EDP of this ~ especially if it made the mint a little stronger and hang around even longer.
black baccara - fairy forest Aroma palette is earthy and fruity. Highlights include airy patchouli, forest floor, spearmint leaf, fresh coffee beans, and clementines.
I got this sample a while ago and I think I sniffed it and thought “EUGH NO.” And shoved it away for months ~ but since my mint awakening, things have changed. I picked it up again not long ago and wow is this gorgeous.
The vibe is like a crisp misty early morning in an ethereal silvery pale green forest covered in dew. Everything is very airy . But definitely in a cold misty way. And now I’m repeating myself. The herbal spearmint is quite strong with nice projection and is like a cast over the other notes ~
What peeks through is mainly a beautiful natural airy but juicy mandarin/the loamy forest flooand slight whispers of leafy brown patchouli. I never get the coffee in this scent - but maybe I’m just missing it somehow. The mandarin sweetens in the most natural beautiful airy way the longer i wear it and the more everything fades. Airy. Hahaha
I literally want to bathe in this stuff. Alas, that’s probably what it would take for this perfume to stick around on me. It largely disappears within an hour of wear, and all the super special magic is over in about 20 mins.
Rating: 8.9/10
Mintyness: 8.5/10
NAVA - peppermint coffee cat Peppermint essential oil, Morning Coffee, Egyptian Coffee beans, Caramel accord, Marshmallow, Sandalwood essence and Vanilla
So.... I like it, but..... this is an “I’m gross and want to be drowned in mint and also like really oddball scents like motor oil and ‘burning’” kind of like here.
I don’t think this one would work for the vast majority of people. It’s intense rich almost burnt/fruity DENSE rough luke-warm fancy black coffee + you decided to dump a bunch of peppermint essential oil in there one morning to clear your sinuses. Kinda sorta nauseating and kinda sorta awesome/wakes you up at the same time.
It’s so strong that i can smell this wherever I store it - like, as a closed bottle haha.
It’s disjointed but has been uniting more as it ages and blends more once you wear it for a bit. (Not that I care - as I want mint to blast me in the faceeee). The marshmallow is like a thin sweetness that eventually comes out a litttllleee bit.
But all this isn’t my complaint with this scent - my issue is that - it’s so hardcore, but then the whole shebang just kinda suddenly disappears within an hour. It talks a lot of smack, but in the end, it can’t hold its own in a fight. (At least at this stage in its aging- I’d say half a month)
Rating: 5ish/10
Minttttt: 9/10 (before it flies away)
arcana - Les Cannes de joie A mashup of Fille de Joie (delicate lavender marshmallows and yellow peaches cured in a vanilla absolute bottle) and Candy Cane (wild-harvested sweet peppermint with French vanilla extract and a hint of bright white musk).
This is one I tried months ago and hated and now I kinda like it. It’s very pretty in the beginning with lots of mint that I wish was sharper, with much more gentle fleshy light peach, vanilla cream and lavender. The musk works for it nicely, keeping everything in check and kinda ethereal, like viewing the notes through a frosted window or something.
Unfortunately a lot of arcana scents just do not sit right on me, and after the scent settles down more it really just goes to this stage of... the notes all shriveling into one another and becoming nauseating and waxy. I want to think coconut is in this somewhere because of the way it’s acting on me, but it’s not in the notes. I still wear this sometimes, as the “nice part” is pleasant to experience for a bit before it gets weird on me.
Rating: beginning 6/10 later stages 2/10
Mint: 5/10 (nice amount of mint, but gets swallowed up by the waxiness eventually)
arcana - winternights three vanillas, frosty peppermint, a dab of white musk, and a hint of ripe young berries encased in ice.
This one is perhaps mintier than Les Cannes de joie- and I like that. I like the concept. But as off as LCDJ went on me - this one is ten times worse, and a serious scrubber. Smells like berries encased in minty wax and has really strong projection hahaha.
Rating: 2/10
Mintttt: 8/10
arcana - glittering black Black amber, black musk, ice-coated black metal, motor oil, smoky vetiver, and just a hint of our Glittering White (an opening of cold peppermint settles into a heart of sugar cookies, marshmallows, white chocolate, and vanilla musk).
Yaaayyyyyyyyyyyy here she isssss ~ one of my favorite scents of all time. Good amount of mint (I want even more though), delicious gourmandy and strong industrial notes with black musk ~ which gently morphs into a beautiful vanilla sugar cookie.
Rating 9.8/10 (a little more mint and it would be a 10 hahaha)
Mintttttt: 8.5/10 (actually on second thought - just tested it again and the mint is probably closer to like a 5 or 6))
BPAL - baku Our Nightmarebane. Named after the Baku, benevolent Japanese spirits that eat nightmares.
This one is bizarro. Scent-wise - I really like it a lot. It’s close to a certain scent profile that really helps with my migraines. Like bright/sharp/fresh herbal lavender, and sinus clearing mint with a non queasy anise/absinthe like note. Very medicinal and lasts a long time. Strong enough that it literally opens your sinuses sniffing the bottle.
Unfortunately this gave me one of the creepiest waking nightmare experiences ever - felt like some kind of entity wanted to eat my happiness or something in a systematic way. I freaked out and had a major panic attack and went to scrub it off but was up all night like terrified.
AND THEN I RESEARCH THIS SPIRIT AND WHAT DO I FIND - That the lore is that if called upon when there hasn’t been a nightmare - the Baku can get angry and basically eat your positive dreams and happiness so that you will never experience joy again. BRO.
I’m so glad I got up and scrubbed it off. I’m so superstitious ~ now I can’t wear this scent even though I want to haha. I didn’t realize that if you are to follow the belief, you shouldn’t like preemptively call on the Baku to “eat your dreams” - only if you wake up from a bad nightmare. 🤦‍♀️
Rating: 7/10
freaking myself out: 10000000/10 (Freaked myself out even more after I saw a reviewer or three in the bpal forum having a similar experience!!)
mintynessś: 9/10
solstice scents - snowmint mallow (EDP) Peppermint, Vanilla Cake, Sugar Cookies, Flaked Coconut & Marshmallow Creme
This is an indie fan favorite, so I had to give it a try. I love solstice scents, I love marshmallow, I love cakeEEeeEee, I love cookies, I like-a-the mint.. but I friggin HATEEEEEE coconut smell in perfumes.
The problem is, I want to like coconut smell in perfumes. So I keep buying and buying scents that have coconut involved- and every single time it’s shrill headache inducing thin vanilla wax on my skin.
So in the case of snowmint mallow - it opened up beautifully - kind of like a great big soft vanilla cake with peppermint vanilla ice cream sundae and sugar cookie crumble on top/ marshmallow floating around.
But then the coconut wax disaster crashes the party- and my migraine begins. It also wants to friggin hang the F around even after I scrub it off several times. But that’s what I get for constantly trying to force coconut down my nose holes ~
(On me: 3.2/10) (on probably most people- betcha it’s a solid 8.5-9/10)
Mint magic: 4ish. Slight blast in the beginning but immediately becomes a very subtle chill.
solstice scents - snowshoe pass (EDP) White Amber, White Musk, Vanilla Accord, Peppermint Cream, Cold Winds
In addition to coconut - I also hate white amber 99.99999999999% of the time. I can smell it a mile away and EUGH. It pains me, the white amber.
A lot of people like this scent and it has mint, so I picked some up to try. Surprisingly it is one of those few instances where I can enjoy the white amber present. I think the balance of the peppermint/white musk and whatever makes things feel “cold” in this scent is what’s making it work.
It smells like a snowman cloud breathed freezing cold air at you and the air smelled like cold minty vanilla and winter. I love it and wear it often but sometimes it also smells like “toilet” to me. Like toilet spray. (But only if I’m in migraine aura mode- so it’s not the scents fault.)
Rating: 8/10
Mint levellll: 7ish/10 (its noticeably minty at first but then it becomes a distinct “chill” and not exactly recognizable. Pretty neat stuff.

Valerian: the smelly smell that smells... smelly

I made the mistake of diffusing a couple drops of this oil blended with lavender and mandarin before bedtime. While I did sleep well, I realized the next day that my bedding absolutely reeked of dirty socks.
Has anyone had success in using valerian EO without the lingering odor becoming an issue? Anyone want to share valerian blend recipes? Does diluting and applying to the soles of the feet actually work to help improve the quality of sleep? I don't want to have to wash my duvet again so soon!

Whole bunch o NAliday reviews for your reading pleasure :p

I tried soooo many of these, and still have more on the way 😬 totally lost my mind with this collection but had a lot of fun doing so!
Here’s some quick reviews of the ones I’ve tried so far since lots of folks didn’t get their decants yet and the collection is coming down. Hope I could help : ) feel free to ask any questions or anything
Sorry for any auto correct typos - I typed this all out quickly on lots of coffee haha, and will be editing any lingering mistakes out shortly
catcoa and Cardamom Cocoa chocolate accord, Crystalline Mallow Studio blend, Green Cardamom essential oil spice, Hot Cocoa and melting Marshmallow accord
Dreamy rich chocolate and strong Cardamom with a bit of bite. The chocolate sometimes seems like hot chocolate with cardamom stewing in there, other times it seems like rich powdered chocolate with dry pods but in a good way. It’s leaning more toward hot chocolate as it ages ~ as you wear it the marshmallow emerges through the chocolate. A very delightful bouncy fresh mallow note that isn’t too sweet. Like those small batch square ones from a specialty confectioner : p One of my favorites from the collection.
NAliday tree Siberian Fir Tree essence, Balsam Tree essence, Pine Needle essence, Crystalline and a little Forest Pine Wood essence
When I first got this, it was one of the best Christmas tree scents I had ever tried ~ the sweetness gave a fuzzy warm feeling, lots of lovely lightly sweet gentle Christmas tree in the siliage ~ long lasting and the tail end is a delightful clear warm sweetness ~ As it ages the Christmas tree has been seeming more camphorous ~ wondering if anyone else is having that issue. Hopefully it’s just a weird phase it’ll grow out of. I decided not to FS because of that, when prior it was an immediate “I always need this scent” haha
noodle juice Egyptian Black Tea, Sandalwood, Blue Sugar accord, Egyptian Sugar. The term ‘Noodle Juice’ was for the Roaring 20’s party goers that drank caffeinated tea throughout the night to keep the brain sparking.
Sparkly almost bitey delicious exotic tea with a rounded sugar note if that makes sense ~ bright and earthy simultaneously. A touch of floral to the tea but not quite ~ one of the best tea notes I’ve tried, doesn’t smell like anything I’ve tried before. Really loved this one.
ducky Fresh Pear, Bastet’s Amber Absolute, Skin Musk, Vanilla Bean Liqeur, Crimson Red Musk.
I didn’t like this one as much as others did ~ for me the pear is quite realistic but quickly swallowed up by what smells red musky+ skin musk to me and it turns into pear powder. I was hoping for more of a juicy pear note that kinda remains juicy and sits on top of the musk of that makes sense. I seem to be in the minority though. It’s still really pretty and is sophisticated for sure.
bastet’s amber red pine Canadian Red Pine Needle, Siberian Fir, Balsam Gum, Pine Needles and Bastet Amber Absolute (Amber Resin imported from Alexandria, Guaiacwood, Crystal Benzoin and Crystal Frankincense)
My favorite of the three - I had issues with all of these just not being noticeable on my skin at all outside of an initial burst of the realistic top notes. I don’t mean in a “bastets amber is ethereal” way - like either I’m anosmic to these or they don’t like me. They have been deepening and getting stronger with age though, so it’s possible these need lots of time to mature. Didn’t get noticeable coconut from this (thank god) (edit: wait whatttt why did I think coconut was listed in this 😂) ~ it’s like a bed of realistic dry warm pine needles. On the sweeter side, but not so sweet that it feels too musty. It’s comforting and nice to wear and makes me feel safe.
bastets amber brûlée woods Brulée Castor Sugar, Santalum-Sugar, Sweet wood Essences of; California Redwood, Vetiver, Patchouli, Sandalwood - and Bastet Amber Absolute (Amber Resin imported from Alexandria, Guaiacwood, Crystal Benzoin and Crystal Frankincense)
The brûlée is deepening and getting more lasting power and stuff as it ages more. It’s like a whole bunch of different kinds of dry more sweet and complex wood tinged by the brûlée ~ the sweetness in this one lasts the second longest before it becomes all hard to pin down bastet amber. I think it needs to age a while because it still reads as oddly thin to me ~ or maybe I just need to adjust my expectations for how I thought it would smell. Regardless all three of these ones were really interesting works of art I’d say even if they aren’t working on me.
bastets amber grey pine Canadian Grey Pine Needle, Balsam Resin, Evergreen, Pine Needles and Bastet Amber Absolute (Amber Resin imported from Alexandria, Guaiacwood, Crystal Benzoin and Crystal Frankincense)
Really realistic delicate foresty pine needles ~ green for sure. More fresh than the red pine which is sweeter in a natural way. I have the most issues with this one lasting on me. The pine does a big hallo moment and then is gone in under 20 mins where it becomes all bastet amber - which quickly becomes quite invisible on me and I have to really concentrate hard to smell it. It’s only improved with age and I ended up FSing it anyway because it’s really pretty. I’m hoping it’ll keep improving with time because right now I have to slather it unlike anything I’ve used before and I usually amp all perfumes like crazy. It makes you smell like you rubbed against a pine tree in a cold snowy northern forest and the scent is just lingering. Super realistic - leaned ever so slightly cologne-ey in the first few days but that is long gone now.
ians fantastic rum raisin cookie Raisin Cookie accord, Orange zest, light dash of Cinnamon and Clove, Bay Rum, Sea Salted Caramel, Rum Buttercream and Condensed Soy Milk accord *don't tell Seth there are raisins in this.
Kinda thin and ethereal but also not. a lot more orange than I expected. Like someone made homemade cookies and put too much orange zest in there. There’s a lot of longevity and projection ~ floofing around me is like slightly slightly burnt buttery a bit salted caramel and atmospheric cookie ~ im not sure if it smells a little oaty, or if I’m tricking myself into thinking it’s there because of the connotation. I’m not smelling the raisins in this I don’t think. The scent really hangs around and makes you smell like “something good is baking” and I like that about it. It’s more the idea of cookie than straight up “a cookie”
unicorns and stars Buttercream accord, Moonstone Absolute, Eternal Ankh Vanilla, Soy Butter accord and lots of Vanilla beans and vanilla icing
Very buttercream vanilla frosting wrapped around what smells like to me a core of vanilla white amber. I can not deal with white amber 99.9% of the time ~ so this did not work for me.
garden rose bee Orange Blossom Honey accord (creamy honey – this is a new honey we’ve created that is not like previous Black Honey accord), Black Rose, White Garden Rose, Bastet’s Amber Absolute and Eternal Ankh Absolute
Thick earthy schmear of more musky honey that almost goes powdery but not quite. Rose is present in the scent immediately, but also does this thing where it’s like slowly peeking out in a more fresh way through the honey as it wears before it gets kinda blended and all musked together. It’s not really a red rose to me ~ more earthy, musky, little bit lemony, bright. It floofs over to - everything mixed together and a bit powdery. Like sniffing a jar of a small batch honey that isn’t filtered out and has all the bits in it. You only need the tiniest drop as this stuff is potent AF. Not a “clear” honey scent. I enjoy it ~
pomander chai Vanilla Chai Tea with Clove, Nutmeg and Allspice, Creamy Vanilla and Indian Chai Tea accord, Orange essential oil, Orange Zest, Mulled Apple Cider accord, Pineapple and White Cinnamon and eNVie saphir amber underneath
Lots of fresh orange - like when you first make the pomander and just stuck all the cloves in rather than when it’s been drying out. It fades eventually to a lil bit fruity kinda thinner chai spiced scent - less intense than say sandalwood chai is by far. It’s slightly creamy after a while in comparison to the others.
incense chai Creamed Incense accord, Chai Black Tea and spices of Allspice/Clove/Nutmeg, Sweet Myrrh Resin, Vanilla dust, Vanuatu Santal, Bastet’s Musk
Maybe my favorite of the chais from the ones available ~ a wholllleeee bunch o incense - I’d say medium to light in terms of the darkness of the type of incense in there. It’s all wrapped up and flavored with chai spice. I’d say “creamed incense” is a good word for it. It’s a bit perfumey but very nice. Reminds me of how I smelled after working at the psychic store I used to work at all day.
sandalwood chai Chai Black Tea with spices of Allspice/Black Clove/Nutmeg, Santalum Absolute and Vanilla Beans
Punch of raw chai spices - nearly on the same level of strength as the opening of koaliday. Lots of clove and allspice. It stays quite spicy the whole time but settles down enough i can smell the black tea peek out for a moment. The sandalwood adds an oddly savory bit to it all and seems a little out of place. Long lasting with a lot of projection. I’m into smelling like exotic holiday spices and am a sandalwood fiend though so I’ll be using my FS of this quite a bit. Not sweet at all, not creamy ~ all of the chai scents I’ve tried aren’t like Starbucks chai - they’re more like the mysterious raw spices in a witches house or a temple.
koaliday Bastet’s Australian melty Vanilla Ice Cream, Crystalline Absolute, Vanilla Bean Fleck, Fried Dough accord ala Funnel Cake deliciousness, White Cinnamon and Vanilla infused Powdered Sugar
Super punch you in the face white cinnamon. It’s brighter, pretty spicy, less musty than other cinnamon notes ~ the fried dough smells more like vanilla donut to me. It starts to peek out and become a part of the spices which sweeten up and start to smell like you got some fresh donuts that got way too much cinnamon and powdered sugar dumped on top in a bag, but it’s like... good like that. Donut comes out and sweetens more over time but never goes into fake territory ~ it’s intense but super good. Warm sweet creamy vanilla is left behind ~ I guess the ice cream. Not for people that hate cinnamon haha.
the Charleston Gin infused Champagne Musk accord, Juniper Berry, eNVie saphir, Bastet’s Musk, Olive Leaf, Lime and Orange essence. Our dancing GnT scent for the new Roaring 20’s. This is a skin scent that will awaken when you attempt the Charleston.
Sorta hard to describe ~ it smells like an elegant and clean lady’s skin~ velvety tawny kinda creamy + bits of the juniper Berry and lime/mandarin subtly peeking through now and then one at a time, stronger with the warmth of your skin. It’s not boozy at all ~ if anything the gin gives sort of a not quite recognizable clarity or lift to everything in contrast with that velvety skin/tawny olive leaf kinda thing that makes up the bulk of the scent.
my heart is filled with twisted light NA Egyptian Kyphi accord, Lavender, Mandarin, White Clove, Nutmeg, Amber and eNVie saphir
Very powdery/musky to me - in the way unlit incense can be ~ tough to explain. It’s like imagine the way musky dragons blood reads to the nose but replace that feeling with the notes listed ~ it’s all fuzzied up, bright, ladylike. Everything is very blended together and has a lot of longevity. I can smell the lavender and mandarin in it as more of like a well blended cast through the musk- they don’t read separate for me. It’s a bit like an unlit incense of some brighter blend intended for sleep maybe. I can see this being kinda calming to some folks. The tone of this didn’t speak to me so much.
foxes in sweaters and scarves Vanilla infused Maple accord, White Cake accord, Vanilla Icing, Vanilla Bean Whole and Absolute
Was really gross to me at first, nothing was reading right in the worst way. A week later I tried it again and it morphed into lovely rich warm natural maple syrup and warm vanilla cake. Has a lot of throw and lasts a while.
bellus (latin for Beautiful) – Neroli, Lily of the Valley, Jasmine, Tuberose, Rose, Honeysuckle, Musk and Kashmir Red Musk
Lots of musk ~ a melange of flowers tinged by Lilly that get swallowed up by red musk and prickery white musk. The red musk isn’t fizzy, but it smells quite like sniffing the fizz on a cold freshly poured cola. It’s a mainly cola like red musk perfume tinged with white floral - Not my thing but I was glad to try it.
opal vanilla I will definitely need a FS of this when it’s available. It’s like sweet cakey vanilla rich buttercream frosting with bourbon vanilla ~ reminds me a little bit of flick by hexennacht in some ways. It wears on the skin in a unique way ~ rich but flickering, ethereal. It’s sweet but the way it wears makes it more adult. Becomes more bourbon vanilla tinged with cakey frosting rather than the other way around as you wear it.

[sell/swap][US to US] Black Baccara, LBE, Berrysweetstuff perfumes

Photo of bottles!
Paring down my collection - I’ve gotten some BB limited editions this year that just didn’t smell right on me; also have some scents that are similar to others and don’t get used. I’m open to swaps! Mostly, I hate being wasteful. Kalliope is incredibly talented, so I’d like to know these are being enjoyed. Everything listed here is near-full - I will note individually if something is missing a smidge more, but essentially if I don’t LOVE it, I don’t wear it.
Swaps: I’m really into gourmands, particularly of the autumnal variety. Spicy and/or sweet scents. Warm. Occasionally I enjoy fruit scents. Anything cinnamony, pumpkin, dessert-like (minus anything chocolate), orange or blueberry (more dessert-like scents than fresh fruit). Not too concerned about brands!
Black Baccara (all are 5ml euro dropper bottles EXCEPT Victorian Yule):
Beloved Ghost this is one of her botanical blends, retails for $32 “Aroma palette is warm and floral. Highlights include nutmeg, clove, patchouli, lavender, dark citrus accord, and marjoram.” Bottle is nearly full, oil level resting at the top of the label.
Black Cat “Aroma palette is dark, spicy, and earthy. Highlights include toasted cardamon, church incense, ancient cedars, tendrils of oak moss, cloves, and earth.” this was in a package with a bottle that leaked, see label in photo - if you are looking to display you will not want this. Bottle is over 3/4 of the way full, oil level a tiiiiiny bit below the top of the label.
Boneyard “Aroma palette is dark and earthy. Highlights include rain misted freshly tilled soil, cedar trees, cemetery moss, dark patchouli, extinguished candle wick, bouquets of clove and cardamom.” Bottle is full to the neck.
Christmas Ghost (limited edition/sold out) “Aroma palette is woodsy, spicy, and warm. Highlights include aged wood, fireplace smoke, cherry pipe tobacco, dried pomanders, antique paper, and church incense.” Bottle is full.
Corvid “Aroma palette is spicy, earthy, and bewitching. Highlights include clove, molasses, anise, amber musk, frankincense, and light patchouli.” I love this in the bottle, but my skin pulls anise sooooo bad! Bottle is over 3/4 of the way full, oil level a tiiiiiny bit below the top of the label.
Falloween “Aroma palette is earthy, spicy, and slightly green. Highlights include freshly fallen autumn leaves, extinguished candle wick, fresh sage, pumpkin pie spice, freshly carved pumpkin, hay bales, and a dash of vetiver.” this was in a package with a bottle that leaked, see label in photo - if you are looking to display you will not want this. Bottle is 3/4 full.
Mermaid Potion “Aroma palette is aquatic, ozone, and fruity. Highlights include ocean spray, lemon verbena, grapefruit squeeze, saltwater taffy, and cool vanilla.” label has a slight imperfection/bubble which can’t be seen in the photo . Bottle is 3/4 full.
Nosferatu “Aroma palette is vinous, earthy, and dark. Highlights include dark patchouli, deep red roses, aged red wine, dirt, tobacco smoke, and fireplace embers.” this was in a package with a bottle that leaked, see label in photo - if you are looking to display you will not want this. Bottle is full to the neck.
Poison Apples “Aroma palette is a fruity, earthy musk. Highlights include apple cider, almond slivers, woodsmoke, orris, burning violets, macintosh apple, aged patchouli, and Egyptian musk.” Bottle is full.
Victorian Yule (limited edition/sold out) “Aroma palette is spicy and woodsy, Highlights include burning yule log, pine cones, fireplace smoke, pine needles, and apple cider.” 10 ml roll-on - bottle is full.

If you want to buy something and want any of these samples let me know and I’ll throw 1-2 in...I didn’t pay for them, so I’m not interested in selling them. They’re all mostly full, but some have been used a couple times.
Berrysweetstuff:
Orange Spice Perfume Oil, 10ml roll bottle: Cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, orange. Bottle is full.
Little Book Eater: Old Books, 3ml sample roll-on: Gingersnap Walnut Cream and Maple Sugar. Bottle is full.

Different, unusual, realistic, artistic aquatic/marine fragrances

" -The boy's not here. He must have been claimed by the sea.
-I am the sea.."
Hey guys! I was looking to talk about aquatic fragrances or fragrances that are dedicated to the ocean/marine theme in unusual, realistic, artistic way. Why can't I just google it? Because some fragrance houses do not advertise their fragrances much or hide their notes. Big YouTube fragrant reviewing channels often do not mention any small indie/niche brands and focus on the mainstream (probably because of sponsorship and ratings) fragrances, SO we could just miss "hidden gems".
At first I was thinking to do a short reviews on some fragrances I've already tried and later notice ones that probably worth trying. With your help, we can discover and mention more!
I'm going to mention or capture some different people's opinions/takes from the different sites as well, so forgive me that.
Notes: Pink Pepper, Solar Salicylate, Incense, Black Ink Accord, Salty Accord, Opoponax, Ambergris, Benzoin, Musk.
I would say opinions on this one are pretty controversial. "Gingerbread cookie dipped in ink and sprinkled with salt and pepper", "Catholic Church at the bottom of the ocean", "Bic pen ink" etc. Many people get this as a fragrance not even close to the oceanic theme. Fortunately, I do. My first impressions was like "creamy milk spilled in the ocean". But later I got that underwater vibe, when salty water fills nostrills and ears and you just get out of deep water. Performance is good, better than average. Love to notice many "what is that?" compliments I've got.
Notes: Sea Salt, White Florals, Cedar, Ambergris and Musk.
First of all, I liked it. I don't feel it complex or changing through wearing, but it is a good take on aquatic theme. When I first sprayed it I've got a strong, slightly sweetened seagrass vibe. Like, some of the air fresheners is on steroids! Don't get me wrong, it is not that generic as an air freshener but could give that vibe. Time later I decided to look at notes and found out that it contains white floral notes. What a surprise, perhaps combination of salt or ambergris with white florals could give that seaweed vibe. As a whole it is very atmospheric fragrance: I was imagining a walk on the beach that was all spammed in seaweed at the half-dark, cloudy day. Performance was good on the skin. At least 4 hours of medium projection, last even longer.
Notes: Ginger, Green Apple, Honeydew, Lime Zest, Orange, Pomegranate, Aquatic Notes, Iris, Sea Salt, Tulip, Patchouli, and Vanilla Bean.
Another interesting take on aquatic. Imagine you just got a fresh honeydew and walk to the beach. You actually don't care that it isn't sunny today, but you are got such delicious, fresh, smoothened and slightly sweetened by vanilla and other notes honeydew. That honeydew smell actually reminded me about some flavored bubble gum (don't laugh!), but it is still almost perfectly executed smell. So, you rip that honeydew on the beach and salty air from the seaside starts to blow. And that mix of smells is actually what you probably going to get from that fragrance. BUT, I'm not sure about it's performance though. Overall, it was a good experience.
Well, I can't remember if I tried anything else from that vein. Here are some honorable mentions that probably worth trying:
Notes: Algue Absolue, Seaweed, Laurel, Marine Salt, Juniper, Clary Sage, Hyacinth, Wild Pistachio, Cedarwood.
Around the turn of the century, the seaside resorts between Abbazia and Lauranade (in present-day Croatia) became a popular destination for the jet-set of the Habsburg Empire. This Austrian Riviera, also known as the "Laurel Coast", because of the Laurus Nobilis that grows here in abundance. The region was known for its mild climate and the beneficial effects of the salty air.
Sale Marino is like the fresh Bora wind that blows over the Quarnero bay and along the "Lungomare" promenade with palm trees and oaks. A salty sea scent with laurel in the top note, greenish fresh algae in the heart and a hint of wild juniper, the bushes overgrowing the stone ruins of the hinterland.
Notes: Danish Spruce, Eucalyptus, Vetiver, Calone, Ambergris, Baltic Sea Mist.
"When Stina, a burgeoning writer, decamps to her mother’s summer house for the winter to write a book, her trip overlaps for one day (and one steamy night) with a brawny fisherman named Ulv. While she struggles to gain traction with her novel, her fixation on the mysterious seafarer results in countless unsent letters, the contents of which chronicle the spiraling psyche of lust and longing. Set on the desolate west coast of Denmark during the tourist off-season, Every Storm a Serenade is a meditative masterwork that will lull you with its well-designed sentences and intimate tone."
A story from official site.
Notes: Lemon, Italian Bergamot, Sea Salt, Moss, Algae, Vetiver, Cedar, Musk.
"Sun, sea and sea air."
Sun, warm sand and a gentle breeze of fresh sea air. A refreshing and striking note of lemon fades to reveal an aquatic green, algue note, while vetiver and drift woods of cedar and birch dry slowly in the sand and salty, sea air.
Notes: Sea Grass, Cypress, Galbanum, Sage, Jasmine, Gardenia, Seaweed, Oakmoss, Transparent Patchouli, Amber, Musk.
Captures the flavor of Marmara Sea both with sea notes and seaweed spiced with sage and galbanum. Flowery notes add the final touch to this fresh and sparkling fragrance. Inhale the wonderful smell of Bosphorus.
Notes: Myrtle, Cedar Wood, Seaweed.
The sea waves that brake on the shore donate new shells, with a multitude of sizes and shapes, to the sand that glimmers in the morning sun of August. In the desert beach flutter heedlessness and freedom.
Notes: Lemongrass, Verbena, Bergamot, Aquatic Notes, Sage, Black Currant Bud, Riverboat Smoke, Tonka Bean, Musk.
Named after and inspired by the famous riverboat that spent many years patrolling the shores of the Mississippi River and was one of the art deco icons of 20th century Saint Louis. This is a sweet breeze on a summer day patrolling the banks by Laclede's Landing. It is a modern scent inspired by the modernist design of the iconic mid-century modern riverboat.
Notes: undisclosed.
"Alessandro Gualtieri's new olfactory creation is Megamare. With this fragrance the master perfumer exploits the richness and originality of the marine notes. Marine accords know how to arouse emotions with a soothing effect. In addition to that, the watery essences are capable of recalling pleasant associations, releasing romance and making us happy. Alessandro Gualtieri does not discover the secret of the olfactory bouquet of his fragrance." - a note from the brand.
Notes: Bergamot, Black Tea, Clary Sage, Pineapple, New Caledonian Sandalwood, Labdanum, Vanilla, Ocean Breezes.
"Tropical cocktail of big sandalwood, black tea and pineapple. Fresh, delicious and long-lasting." © note from official site.
Notes: Salty Seaweed, Pink Peppercorn, Oud Blend, Styrax, Ambergris Accord, Fir Balsam.
Oud Minerale merges rare and precious oud with the fresh exuberance of the ocean, capturing the refreshing play of surf and sea against the burning flame of smoked wood. Tom Ford's reinvention of oud marks an olfactive watershed that pairs two of the world's most intriguing elements to reveal tonalities both exhilarating and powerfully transcendent.
"By combining two elements from different worlds, smoked oud and fresh ocean, I wanted to create something surprising and unprecedented, as addictive as it is inventive." © Tom Ford
Notes: Sea Notes, Vetiver, Oakmoss, Hazelnut, Sesame, Bergamot, Cumin, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Whiskey.
Epice Marine offers aromas of spices cut through with the invigorating tang of the sea.
Notes: Sea Salt, Sage, Grapefruit, Ambrette (Musk Mallow), Seaweed.
"Escape the everyday along the windswept shore. Waves breaking white, the air fresh with sea salt and spray. Alive with the mineral scent of the rugged cliffs. Mingling with the woody earthiness of sage. Lively, spirited and totally joyful."
Notes: Bergamot, Sicilian lemon, Bulgarian Lavender, Fennel Essential Oil, Bourbon Geranium, Orange Blossom, Aquatic Herbs, Amber Chord, Tonka Beans, Aquatic Cedar Notes.
"Surrender to an eau de parfum encapsulating the nativeness and briskness of a day at the sea. Phtaloblue is fresh and bright with elegant citrus and herbaceous notes , and at the same time rich and deep with balsamic woody and floral accords. Phtaloblue will accompanying you through your day redefining the aquatic genre."
So, that is the ones I think could be a part of "unusual, artistic, realistic aquatic" family of fragrances.
I didn't mention:
If something of this or anything not mentioned gives you an ocean vibe in any unusual way let us know please.

My skincare routine and reviews. No shelfie because products are all over the place. All products available in India. Very dry skin 28f.

So I’ve been a skincare enthusiast for almost 7 years and my journey has lead through soooo many products so I’ll just start right away.
Cleansers:
The Face Shop Rice Rich Oil Cleanser - My HG. Melts any traces of make up off like a dream and feels somewhat moisturising to my super dry skin.
Bioderma Micellier water: the standard pink bottle. HG. I use this when I am lazy or I’m not wearing make up although this works like a charm on hardest of the make up. I’ve noticed my skin is clearer without any comadomes when I use this regularly vis a vis simple one step cleansing with a face wash on no make up days. I don’t use this daily per se but yes regularly. I find this one to be much better than garnier micellar water because I feel this is more heavy duty.
Organic Harvest Skin Whitening Facewash: MY ALL TIME HG. Using it for the last 5 years. Yes please don’t go by name it does no skin whitening but it is a a cream consistency, makes no lather, is soap and foam free and removes makeup and dirt Like. A. Boss. Also because it’s soap and foam free it’s a dream come true for dry and ageing skin. You have to try this in winter.
Himalaya Neem face wash: I’ve used many soap cleansers like Clinique, Nuetrogena, Kama, Forest Essentials etc but this is a simple no non sense formula I love when my skin feels tacky. Also I don’t find any SLS or Parabens in the ingredients unlike the Cetaphil gentle cleanser.
Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser: Hard pass. I know people rave about it but I’ve noticed it clogs my skin over time and makes it dull. I don’t like the squeaky clean feeling on my face lmao that’s a nightmare for dry skin but this is just not it. I prefer the organic harvest SW face wash over this any day.
TONERS:
I know the general consensus is that toners are useless if you apply your products directly on wet/semi wet skin but I think they give a boost of hydration on dry dehydrated skin like mine. Can’t live without.
Kama toners: be it rose, lavender, mogra, vetiver they are all my favourite. My HG. Very refreshing and they don’t clog my pores or dull my skin with heavy molecules.
Dermafique all cleanse toner: the one and only blue one. SO refreshing and hydrating. Love this. I notice my skin is very hydrated and clean when I use this. I use this only on my periods or when I’m breaking out because I tend to avoid hydrating toners in general as they dull my skin with too much layering lol. If you have a simple routine go for it. Its under 400 rupees.
Cosrx two in one poreless Power Liquid: THIS DRIED THE FUCK OUT OF MY SKIN IN 4 DAYS. I’m talking about Desert Fucking Dry. Like Kama coconut oil couldn’t moisturise my skin for more than 3 hours dry. I would NOT recommend this to dry skin but I see how IF YOU HAVE CYSTIC ACNE THIS IS A DREAM COME TRUE. Or if your acne has pus then go for it but use with caution this has like 80% willow bark water which is a BHA. I will use this if I have a cystic breakout which I do sometimes.
Pixi milky hydrating toner: skip it. Wouldn’t recommend it’s just a hydrating toner which is too pricey and smells like perfume. It dulls my skin over time.
Pixi glow tonic go to pads: it’s just like the toner but in round cotton pads. Love it. Helps me with simple exfoliation when I’m not using other actives.
SERUMS:
Minimalist 10% Niacinamide + Zinc: Love it. Regulates my dry skin. Has prevented any new PIH as my PIH is almost as good as gone over the last two years. I love the aloe base and overall consistency.
Minimalist 2% alpha arbutin 1% HA: Love it it definitely brightened and lightened my skin just like hydroquinone. I use it during the nights as my skin colour has definitely lightened a shade over the last 2 weeks. If you don’t like skin lightening then use it to tackle PIH or redness it’s a wonderful product.
Minimalist multi peptides serum: I noticed my skin is bouncier and the crow feet which were juuust starting were nipped in the bud. Totally recommend to anyone approaching or over 30.
The body shop anti blemish daily solution: used to be HG till I was introduced to the minimalist. Still my go to when I have a break out. Noticed some skin dulling when used regularly. Like my face would positively look brown and arms would look yellow. That’s what I mean by dull skin in the entirety of my post.
Este Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum: My HG on some extremely dehydrated nights. It’s works like a charm on my eyes too. I don’t need a face oil when I use this and this makes my skin glow. Love it although it’s not something I would absolutely recommend to someone with normal skin.
Biotique visibly ageless dandelion serum: it’s under 270 rupees and it was my go to during my broke college days. Works like a charm and my skin used to be visibly declogged, brighter and smooth when I use it. I still go for it sometimes when my skin feels like it needs a more watery serum. Love it. But because biotique does not disclose its full ingredients list I’ve fallen out of love with it but in college my motto was “if it ain’t broken don’t fix it”
Etude House Moistful Collagen Essence: love it. It has 42% hydrolysed collagen and I notice visibly plumped skin whenever I use this. I especially love it around my eyes which are much drier than the rest of my face. Would recommend to people approaching or over 30.
Cosrx snail mucin: I notice a brighter and more even skin toner with less visible pores when I use this regularly but it does make me depend on a much thicker moisturiser somehow. My skin feels stretched if I leave it on without a thick emollient. But it works wonder so yes, recommend.
Neutrogena Hydroboost Serum: Used about 3 bottles of this before moving on to the minimalist after discovering this sub. I used this as a buffer serum when I didn’t use any actives on a rest day. Now the Minimalist 2% alpha arbutin has effectively replaced this serum lol. However I still use this under tret or hydroquinone sometimes.
MOISTURISERS:
Neutrogena oil free moisturiser: This was my HG in college. It’s a no nonsense formula with no alcohol or perfume. Non comedogenic. Works as a beautiful emollient too over a humectant moisturiser. My skin always felt softer and smoother with this.
Clinique 72 hours moisturising gel: Hard pass. Preferred the Neutrogena Hydro boost water gel over this any day as this did nothing to my skin. No moiturising, it would just vanish and also it’s double the price of the Neutrogena.
Neutrogena hydro boost water gel: love it in summer or when I’m on my periods when I need a light moisturiser. Enough said. I’ve used some 5 jars of it now.
Neutrogena hydro boost Emulsion: HG day moisturiser. It works like a charm. It has a thick gel like emulsion consistency and works 10 times better than the water gel on dry skin.
Tony Moly timeless ferment snail cream: MY HOLY GRAIL NIGHT CREAM. This is a perfect blend of snail cream and a thick occlusive moisturiser. Like the cream itself has separate parts of the snail mucin and the cream and you can control how much to use of the snail mucin or the cream. For a price of 3500 it comes with a free 20 gram snail mucin eye gel which I’ve noticed is better the 15 grams of Este Lauder advanced repair eye gel priced at 4500. Absolutely recommend.
I’m tired for now I’ll update a few more moisturisers later.

Quick NAliday reviews before the collection comes down

Here's a bunch of quick reviews for some of the NAVA holiday collection, in case you're still trying to make up your mind before the collection comes down tomorrow morning. Everything has rested for at least a month; in the case of the resurgence scents, my bottles are from the original release so they've had around a year to age.
Vanilla Snow Cotton Candy (Resurgence): Cotton Candy accord, Bavarian Crème accord, Malted Vanilla Bean, Vanilla Custard accord, Marshmallow accord, Vanilla Sugar and Bavarian Vanilla Bean. NAVA's cotton candy note is an airy strawberry sugar to me, and that, plus a slightly fuzzy vanilla, is most of what I get out of this scent. It lacked the depth I was hoping for, and it didn't have a lot of lasting power either.
Peppermint Candy Cane Cotton Candy (Resurgence): Cotton Candy Accord, Peppermint Pure, Violet, Marshmallow accord, White Lily, Peach essence and sugar accord. The cotton candy and the peppermint are the dominant notes here. The peppermint can't decide if it wants to lean more sweet or more herbal--sometimes it smells one way, sometimes the other. Overall, it's minty fluffy strawberry, with perhaps some marshmallow and sugar to help with the cotton candy feel. At times the mint smells almost toothpaste-like (I find this happens a lot with peppermint). I can't smell the violet or lily. Not sure if I like it or not.
Gingerbread Cotton Candy (Resurgence): Cotton Candy accord, Gingerbread accord, Vanilla, Nutmeg, Ginger, Cinnamon, Bastet’s Ice Cream and, Cookie accord. This is probably my favorite of the winter cotton candies. It's ground ginger and the fluffy strawberry note to start with, with the ginger eventually settling into gingerbread and then getting cozy with the cotton candy so the effect is a warm, softly spiced airy strawberry-vanilla. Because of the BIC, it probably benefited from the year of aging it got.
NAliday Tree: Siberian Fir Tree essence, Balsam Tree essence, Pine Needle essence, Crystalline and a little Forest Pine Wood essence. This one is a favorite from this year's collection. This smells like the idea of a Christmas tree rather than a literal tree, if that makes sense: Warm, cozy, a little sweet and woody with a hint of evergreen. I get a lot of Crystalline (which provides slightly sweet warm fuzzies) with a blend of the evergreens that never veers into Pine-sol territory.
Bastet's Amber Grey Pine: Canadian Grey Pine Needle, Balsam Resin, Evergreen, Pine Needles and Bastet Amber Absolute (Amber Resin imported from Alexandria, Guaiacwood, Crystal Benzoin and Crystal Frankincense) This is a perfumey (in a good way), warm, woody amber with a little freshness from the evergreens. I'm warming up to the BA variations and this one is nicely balanced between the outdoorsy freshness of the pine needles (I'd call it fresh pine needles rather than dry) and the...perfumey (for lack of a better word--it's a more interesting amber with hints of wood and florals) quality of the Bastet Amber base.
Pfeffersneuse Chai: Spiced Chai Tea with Clove, Nutmeg and Black Allspice berries, Fresh Ginger Peel, Buttercream Icing accord, Star Anise, Golden Cinnamon and Pink Sugar. Warning: This particular oil is really runny (I've found that with a lot of the collection this year, actually), so it's really easy to apply too much. Sweet and spicy chai in the bottle, it's SUPER SPICY once it hits my skin and warms up. I love spicy scents and I found it to be almost too much. I get a lot of star anise, clove and fresh ginger (mostly star anise and ginger skin) and a bit of buttercream and pink sugar with not much actual chai present until it dries and settles down a bit into a gingery chai.
Bastet's Amber Brulee Woods: Brulée Castor Sugar, Santalum-Sugar, Sweet wood Essences of; California Redwood, Vetiver, Patchouli, Sandalwood - and Bastet Amber Absolute (Amber Resin imported from Alexandria, Guaiacwood, Crystal Benzoin and Crystal Frankincense) This is sweetish and caramelized woods--woody, a little burnt smelling, a little powdery. It takes a long time for the BA base to come out. It reminds me of a lighter, sweeter version of Bastet Amber Dark Woods from this year's Halloween collection. I didn't love it, exactly, but I think it has the potential to age well. (I think this one sold out, but I will leave this here just in case.)
Llama Llama Vanilla infused Sandalwood, Cashmere Vanilla accord, Indian Sandalwood, French Vanilla Bean and Santalum Absolute I bought this one because I was intrigued by the cashmere vanilla note (and because of the label art). Alas, I haven't gotten much of that at all and it's just powdery sandalwood with a bit of vanilla and something a little fuzzy.
Catcoa & Cardamom: Cocoa chocolate accord, Crystalline Mallow Studio blend, Green Cardamom essential oil spice, Hot Cocoa and melting Marshmallow accord Hello, I'm your local cardamom fiend. It starts out as sweet cardamom with dark chocolate providing a backdrop, and ends up as cardamom-scented marshmallows in hot chocolate. On paper it seems similar to Bastet's Delicieux Mocha Cardamom Cafe from a few years ago, without the coffee, but the only similarity I'm getting is the cardamom.
Peppermint Coffee Cat: Peppermint essential oil, Morning Coffee, Egyptian Coffee beans, Caramel accord, Marshmallow, Sandalwood essence and Vanilla. This one is...challenging, to say the least. It's coffee breath and toothpaste in the vial and it doesn't get much better from there. The peppermint is really strong on the skin, and what hangs around is the caramelized to over-roasted coffee notes with something that's kind of like caramel in there. There really needs to be less peppermint and more marshmallow or something so that they blend better--it's just peppermint sitting on top of almost-burnt coffee at this point. It's possible that aging will help but I'm not sure I want to try.
Crystalline Chai (Resurgence): Vanilla infused Chai Black Tea with spices of Allspice/White Clove/Smoked Nutmeg and Crystalline Vanilla with a little touch of White Santalum. Spices and Crystalline? Sign me up. This is like drinking a creamy vanilla chai latte while wearing a fuzzy sweater. It's not overly spicy--they're there, but tempered by a creamy vanilla and the Crystalline, so the overall effect is warmth rather than spices.
Sandalwood Chai (Resurgence): Chai Black Tea with spices of Allspice/Black Clove/Nutmeg, Santalum Absolute and Vanilla Beans Starts out as a woody chai, ends up as sandalwood and something resembling black pepper. It's oddly savory. I haven't done a head-to-head comparison with either Cardamom Chai Sandalwood or Halloween 2020, but they're probably similar enough so that if you have one, you don't really need either the other. (Also, I highly recommend combining Sandalwood Chai with Crystalline Chai--I think I like the combo better than either of the two separately.)
