Central San teamed up with Mt. View Sanitary District (MVSD) in 1997 to build and operate the first permanent Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Facility in Contra Costa County. The HHW Collection Facility is located adjacent to Central San wastewater treatment plant in Martinez, west of Solano Way from Highway 4. The City of Sacramento operates an HHW collection center at the Sacramento Recycling and Transfer Station (SRTS) for residents and businesses. Businesses who qualify as a Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator (CESQG) must make an appointment to bring hazardous waste materials and must pay fees depending on material type. Household Hazardous Waste Center. The HHW Center is currently open for curb-side service, see “Location and Drop off Hours” below. Climax Township is not participating for 2021. Residents may still use the HHW Center for a fee, more information is located at “ Eligible Participants”. In order to unload materials quickly and safely, we ask that all residents remain in their vehicle. The Household hazardous waste includes items labeled danger, toxic, poisonous, corrosive or flammable such as paints, thinners, stains, varnish, drain and oven cleaners, poisons, automotive fluids, weed and insect killer, fluorescent light bulbs and ballasts, etc. These materials (in household quantities or up to 220 pounds per month per residence), among others, are accepted at the city's Hazardous materials generated by your household can be safely disposed of through the Santa Clara County Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Program. Drop-off events are held the 1st weekend of every month at their facility in San Martin. There is no charge to participate, but you must call 408-299-7300 to preregister. The solution to proper disposal of household hazardous waste is to drop it off at the Town's HHW facility. The Town of Apple Valley HHW facility is open to the public for free drop off of household hazardous waste every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. except holidays. The facility is located at 13450 Nomwaket Road, south of Powhatan. Certain household products may pose a risk to human health or the environment if not disposed of correctly. Riverside County operates permanent HHW facilities that offer service on a regular basis and temporary 1-day and 2-day HHW events throughout the year that provide residents of Riverside County a FREE and environmentally safe way to properly dispose or recycle hazardous household waste.
